Algorithm Design and Implementations. The goal of this course
is to teach students the design, analysis, implementation, and
use of computer algorithms. We will start with introductions to
fundamental data structures, sorting, recursive programs, dynamic
data structures, memory management, algorithm design techniques
and complexity analysis. We then move to applications in optimization
problems.

Introduction to Algorithms. Study of fundamental algorithms and
data structures and their effective use in a variety of applications.
Emphasizes importance of data structure choice and implementation
for obtaining the most efficient algorithm for solving a given
problem. Another key component of this course is the ability to
quickly analyze the efficiency of an algorithm. Topic covered
generally include: asymptotic analysis, design and analysis of
divide-and-conquer algorithms, sorting algorithms, decision tree
lower bound technique, hashing, binary heaps, skip lists, B-trees,
basic graph algorithms, garbage collection.

Networking Concepts & Technologies>. In this workshop,
students are introduced to an array of emerging technologies called
broadband networks, which are a new generation of high-speed communications
services designed for megabit transmission. Some of the fast packet
technologies carry data only, while others are multimedia (voice/data/video)
transmission systems. This seminar explains what broadband networks
are, how they work, and when to apply them. Those enrolling also
learn how to select the most appropriate technology: ATM, SONET,
FDDI, SMDS, BISDN, or frame relay.

Broadband Networks. There is considerable discussion in the media
about the "Information Superhighway," a global network
allowing ubiquitous access to very high data rate, integrated
services such as video on demand, multimedia and virtual reality.
In this course we will investigate many of the critical issues
in the design of a high data rate, integrated services network.

High Speed Networking Technologies. The focus of this course is
to provide an in-depth understanding of the key high-speed networking
technologies including ISDN, BISDN, Frame Relay, ATM, and SONET.
Primary discussion topics include the underlying concepts, protocol
details, user-network interfaces, and applications of the technologies.
The course also covers SS7 and its use in high-speed networks.
